The Social Innovation Fund is a partnership between the Offices of Research Affairs, Student Life, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and the Council of Provosts to promote, guide, and support student-driven ideas that address specific challenges in the local or national community and abroad. The IHPSD in Action Team’s project on creating a self sustaining emergency power supply for respiratory medical devices in Barrio Logan was awarded $1,500 to support costs of prototyping and project materials.

IHPSD received $2,500 of seed funding from UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla for its initiatives in the greater San Diego region. In the footsteps of UC San Diego’s focus on interdisciplinary, student-engaging, and experientially driven work, IHPSD was commended for its innovative approach to engaged learning and community impact.
